A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday 10:00 AM October 15, 2024, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with military honors by a U.S. Army Honor Guard. Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Memorial Garden.

Anthony J. La Verdi, 79, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Monday, September 16, 2024, at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital, Port Charlotte.

He was born February 24, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Joseph La Verdi and Marge Damato La Verdi. Anthony and his family moved to Port Charlotte in 2002 from Staten Island, New York. Anthony was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Viet Nam War. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Port Charlotte, President of Legion of Mary at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Member of Sons & Daughters of Italy and Knight of Columbus Council #5399 and American Legion Post #110 of Port Charlotte.

Anthony is survived by his loving family, his wife, Catherine A La Verdi of Port Charlotte, a daughter, Michael Fischetti of Port Charlotte; three sons, Marc A. La Verdi of Port Charlotte, Anthony La Verdi of Staten Island, NY and Salvatore La Verdi of Grandview-On- Hudson, NY; and 5 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 21505 Augusta Ave., Port Charlotte, FL 33952.

Dear Cathie and family - I am so sorry to hear of Tony's passing. He was a great friend and I will miss him dearly. I feel blessed that I was able to share so many great memories with you and Tony over the years and I know that I speak for many friends. He was someone who truly "LIT UP THE ROOM", when he entered.
