It is with deep love and cherished memories that we celebrate the life of Arlene A. McAvoy, 69, of Port Charlotte, Florida who passed away peacefully on August 29th, 2026, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, Florida.

Arlene was the kindest, most compassionate woman anyone could ever meet. She was a force of warmth, generosity, and joy. Best known for an extraordinary ability to turn strangers into fast friends, step up for her community, and turn empty tables into unforgettable feasts. To Arlene, the world was not full of strangers, but rather friends who hadn’t met yet. Her deep love for people extended far beyond her own home. Committed to feeding those around her, she spent countless hours gathering food from local food drives and passing it out into the community, ensuring that no one within her reach went hungry. Nowhere was that generous spirit more alive than in the kitchen, especially during the holidays. Arlene lived for the chaos and comfort of big holiday dinners. The house would fill with the rich aromas of roasting meals and homemade treats, but the true magic was who filled the chairs. At her holiday table, there was always room for one more. Neighbors, old friends, and those who had nowhere else to go were pulled into the warmth, handed a plate, and made to feel like family.

As a mother, she was the ultimate anchor. Her sons remember her fondly as the ultimate Little League team mom, cheering loudly from the sidelines and organizing the team with love. But her true superpower was her unwavering support during life’s hardest times. She never judged. Instead, she offered the best advice and possessed a rare, soothing grace that knew exactly how to calm her children down in their worst moments. She taught us that food tastes best when shared, and that compassion is an art form of the heart.

Arlene is survived by her sons, Shawn McAvoy, Kyle McAvoy, and Brian McAvoy. Her beloved, Kevin Persinger, her brothers John Feola, Donald Feola, Carmine Feola, as well as a community of countless friends made along the way. A celebration of Arlene’s life will be held on a later date.
