Audrey Collins Legge, of Punta Gorda, FL and formerly of Treasure Lake in DuBois, Pennsylvania, died on August 14, 2018, at Bayfront Hospital, Punta Gorda, Florida. She was the daughter of the late Isaac R. Collins and Beatrice Goodrich Collins of Bradford, PA. She married Thomas N. Legge on April 9, 1960 at the Hill Memorial United Methodist Church in Bradford. He survives.
She graduated from Bradford Senior High School in 1955 and attended Edinboro University where she received a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education (1959). She did graduate work at Michigan State University and Edinboro University. She was an elementary teacher and had taught in Pennsylvania, New York, and Ohio. Later she was a co-founder and director-teacher of the Presbyterian Preschool in Edinboro, PA for over 20 years.
Audrey and her husband retired to Treasure Lake in 1996. She was a member of Lakeside Methodist Church, Ladies of the Lake, Treasure Lake Women’s Walking Club, the Round Robins Dance Club and the Country Line Dance Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, kayaking, and she loved to dance. Her great joy was working with young children.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Legge of Punta Gorda; a daughter Lisa (Michael) Koeneman of Punta Gorda, Florida, a son John Legge (John Huebler) of Chicago IL, a sister Joyce (Marshall) Hudson of Westborough, MA, three grandchildren, Capt. Kelly Koeneman (Matthew) Shaffer of Fairfax Station, VA, Austin Koeneman (Meghan) of Westerville, OH and Molly Koeneman of Lynchburg, VA, two great-grandchildren, Levi and Lydia Shaffer, plus many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Edward Collins, and sister, Janet Proctor.
Services will be held in DuBois, PA followed by burial in Bradford, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047 (www.lbda.org).
