Beryl was born to Sidney and Rebecca St. Hill on March 9, 1927 in Guyana, South America and moved to Port Charlotte in 1987 from Brooklyn, NY. Beryl was a strong independent woman who loved life to the fullest. She moved to the U.S. in 1961 from British Guyana. She worked as a housekeeper in Manhattan for many years and later as a nurse’s aide in Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. In 1963 she sent for her remaining 2 children, Randolph and Mayleen to the U.S. Beryl was a member of The Brethren Church in Guyana and in Brooklyn, NY and the First Baptist Church which is now known as Family Church Port Charlotte and went to the Sunday School gatherings. She loved to praised the Lord and made sure her family did too. She was a member of the Salvation Army in Port Charlotte, the Lutheran Church where she assisted with the prayer baskets for the sick and a member of the H2U in Port Charlotte. Beryl loved baking her famous cherry pound cake, cooking and especially her animals, birds and dogs. She loved to travel especially Egypt, England and Barbados. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be forever missed by all who loved and knew her.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Mayleen McKenzie of Rosedale, NY; her son, Randolph Brandt of Queens, NY and 2 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 10:00AM-11:00AM, followed by a Funeral service at 11:00AM, Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Family Church, 20035 Quesada Ave. Port Charlotte, FL 33952. Interment will follow to Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte.
