Betty was born May 16, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Punta Gorda 29 years ago from Gales Ferry, CT. Her parents came to the US from Scotland and died when she was very young. She was raised by her Aunt and Uncle in Groton, CT. She graduated from Fitch High School and worked at the Southern New England Telephone Company where she met her Husband Roy. They spent most of their lives in a home on the Thames River in Gales Ferry, CT. where they raised their family. They retired to Punta Gorda, FL where Betty was active in the Peace River Telephone retirees of Florida. She belonged to the Lady Walter Scott Daughters of Scotia Lodge # 147 in Quincy, MA. Betty was an active member of the Christ Community United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife and mother and will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Roy S. Martin; a daughter, Ethel Alexander of Chocowinity, NC; a Granddaughter, Heather Jackson; a great-granddaughter, skyeler Jackson; a sister in law, Mary; her nieces, Kathleen Martin, Nadine Ledger and Linda Daugherty; 4 nephews, Howard, Tommy, William and Bruce Martin and her cousin, Janice of Dallas, GA. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Annie McKinnon Sharp and Donald Campbell Sharp.
