The Cobbs Family left a message on January 25, 2010:
Dear Mother Gayle and family We, were saddened to learn of the recent death of our beloved Bishop Peter Gayle. We have loving memories of the warm and wise example of leadership he showed toward us as we ministered and fellowshipped together at the Northeast Regional Fellowship. One of his trademarks among us became his powerful voice resounding as he would announce WHAT TIME IS IT? that traditional call exists still and is remembered by young and older delegates. We know what time it is.. One day Almighty God whom he had served for so many years called him from labor to reward. Heaven has been rewarded, the angels rejoice, while you his family and we his friends know that a giant of a man walked among us and is now gone. Bishop Gayle will live on in the hearts of many therefore we comefort you with these words... Jesus is coming soon. Continue to be strengthened as you wait for the promised day when there will be no more pain, no more sorrow, no more death, and all of our tears will be wiped from our eyes. We offer our prayerful support and send our love and deepest sympathy. Sincerfely, Bishop Gerald Cobbs, Pastor Reverend Ira Jean Cobbs, Administrator Freehold Church of God Freehold, New Jersey
