He was born September 28, 1927 in Hellerup, Denmark and moved to Port Charlotte in 1984 from West Islip, Long Island, NY. For many years he summered in Franklin, NC; He was a former Captain in the Danish Merchant Marines and a retired marine insurance surveyor and claims investigator. Member of the Propellor Club of Tampa, National Association of Marine Surveyors, Danish Merchant Marine Officers Association, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Tampa Bay Mariners Club, the Peace River Wildlife Club and a former member of the Grassy Point Civic Association of Port Charlotte.

He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Marjorie L. Hansen of North Port; a daughter, Charmain (Tim) Devereau of New York; a son, Svend B. Hansen of Punta Gorda, FL, three sisters, Lizzie Montwillo of Mahopack, NY, Ester Bay of
Birkeroed, Denmark, Grete Friis-Nansen of Copenhagen, Denmark; two brothers, Beorge Bay Hansen and Pelle Bay Hansen both of Copenhagen, Denmark.
