Our family has truly lost a gem, known to us, as Aunt Carol. She joined our extended family in July 1960. I met her when I was selected as Aunt Carol's and Uncle Hugo's ring-bearer. I took my first dancing steps with her, at the age of seven, during the reception. It wasn't hard to be drawn to her beautiful voice that made everyone one stop and listen. It was a beautiful voice I will forever play over and over in my head. After the wedding, she and Uncle Hugo were blessed with two smart children, Rob in 1961, and Sheri in 1964. When I met her again in 1964 she earned my admiration as my favorite aunt. She had a knack for recruiting help on a visit turning chore drudgery into fun (such as shoveling snow off the circular driveway, which is a rarity here in south Texas). It was true for Aunt Carol to not wait for opportunity to call. One day, while standing in the only open line at her bank lobby, seven people deep, no sooner had a second teller begin the process of opening a second window, she dashed like an Olympian to be the first in that line before the opening teller had asked if anyone would like to move to the new line. In 1980, working with twilling, Aunt Carol took her hobby and created a beautiful cluster of twills and gifted our decorated wedding announcement back to us. It is a treasure that is beyond stunning. We have placed it with pride on our bedroom wall. It is our most irreplaceable prized possession we will covet and always remember her by. Aunt Carol has been the crowning jewel of our family and we will forever miss her voice, her smile, her humor, her quick-thinking wit and her loving generosity. With our love forever, Billy, Pat, Melissa, Shane and JC.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your beautiful mother. Carol was such a wonderful person and I'm so proud that I got to know her. She has been a long time member of the Hickory Bluff Chapter and DAR member for over 60 years, and has remained so to this day. We have missed her smile and her laughters and will be remembered at our meeting in April. Please accept my condolences on her passing. Katherine

Carol and I worked closely at Charlotte Harbor Methodist. We were active in the Women’s Fellowship. I went to the Children’s Home when Hugo arranged a bus visit. Carol was a lovely lady. Fondly, Doreen Steele

Carol was the sweetest lady. I attended church with her and Hugo. They did so much of God’s work. I miss them both. I believe they have rejoined in heaven to do great things. May the family find peace and know they were so loved and appreciated by us.
