Cecilia was born on May 25, 1944, in Rio Predias, Puerto Rico, to the late Augustin and Ursula Perez. She was one of seven children. She migrated with family to New York in 1947 at the young age of three. Little did she know the man she would marry would be on that same flight.
Growing up in Manhattan she completed all her schooling and at 18 Graduated from Mable Dean Bacon in 1962. Soon after she was married to the love of her life Roberto Muniz on June 30, 1962, which persisted for 56 years. She gave birth to 3 of her 4 children.
In 1971, the family relocated to New Haven, Connecticut. There Cecilia gave birth to her fourth child. Her career began at Hill Health Center from 1971 – 1999 where she served the community through outreach for 28 years. Her servitude continued with a calling to a ministry that began with her husband and mother in 1977. In addition, she furthered her education by earning a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Springfield College.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband and their children exploring new places with every trip a new adventure. Her love for Florida became apparent when she decided to build a home there in the early 80’s. Cecilia didn’t realize that she was a pioneer for her mother, her children and her siblings, all of which live in Florida.
Along with her husband, Cecilia eventually moved to Florida in 1999. She continued her service to the community and worked for Charlotte County Mental Health until 2005. Even as a retiree she continued to provide love and support for the family.
She is remembered for her tenacity, strength, and devotion to God and family. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and preceded in death by her husband, Roberto.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service for Cecilia on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 10:00am for the viewing and followed by a service at 11:00am at Community Life Center, 19048 Edgewater Dr, Port Charlotte, 33948.
