Claude was born September 16, 1923 in Pike County, Kentucky and moved to Sarasota 40 years ago from Minford, Ohio. He was a World War II veteran who served proudly for the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the VFW of Sarasota for many years. He was a kind hearted man who cared for one and all and will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Effie T. Sellards; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Uncle Claude was actually my great uncle. I remember him telling me stories and making the hula girl on his forearm dance. I always looked forward to Aunt Effie coming to Turkey Creek to visit. Truly great people.
