David Arthur Welsh, 70, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away peacefully Monday, January 8, 2018, at his Port Charlotte residence.
David was born February 1, 1947, in Winchester, Massachusetts, to the late Sidney and Lillian Welsh. After serving with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, David returned to civilian life as a Machinist, even teaching courses for future Machinists before beginning a 26-year career with Textron Systems Inc. He and his wife Norma, retired to Florida from New England, in 2006.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Norma E. Welsh, their 10 children, Michael Welsh, Tony Welsh, Jacob Welsh, Marcy (Welsh) Chevez, Fay Welsh, Cheryl Musser, Lt. Commander USN R. Scott Stevens, Douglas Stevens, Gregg Stevens, and Bryan Stevens; a brother and sister, Len (wife Sunni) Welsh, and Marilyn (husband Joseph) Saueressig; many, many grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and numerous extended family members. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Welsh.
No public services are planned at this time for David. The Welsh family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in David’s name be made to Tidewell Hospice Philanthropy Department, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Florida 34238.
