David Arthur Welsh, 70, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away peacefully Monday, January 8, 2018, at his Port Charlotte residence.

David was born February 1, 1947, in Winchester, Massachusetts, to the late Sidney and Lillian Welsh. After serving with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, David returned to civilian life as a Machinist, even teaching courses for future Machinists before beginning a 26-year career with Textron Systems Inc. He and his wife Norma, retired to Florida from New England, in 2006.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Norma E. Welsh, their 10 children, Michael Welsh, Tony Welsh, Jacob Welsh, Marcy (Welsh) Chevez, Fay Welsh, Cheryl Musser, Lt. Commander USN R. Scott Stevens, Douglas Stevens, Gregg Stevens, and Bryan Stevens; a brother and sister, Len (wife Sunni) Welsh, and Marilyn (husband Joseph) Saueressig; many, many grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and numerous extended family members. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Welsh.

Davie, We remember the first time that we met you and Norma. Here it is twenty five years later. Hard to believe. Two of the nicest people that anyone could ever meet. We will always remember the good times and laughs that we had at Vine Brook at the pool and all of the parties. All were welcome. I remember when you gave my dad that scotch. Boy, did he like that. You were really on his hit list that day. The good times at the beach and the good times at Chester. Boy were they times to be remembered. What a grillmaster you were!!! No one in the world could beat your burgers and all of the other items. Everyones order was made to order just the way they liked it. Especially my burnt burgers. You are resting In the arms of the angels, god, Tarsha, Emma, and Jasper now not suffering, Snugs will take good care of Norma. I never did pack a bag. Oh, wait a minute, I hear you calling my name, BARTENDER....time for a refill. You will be really missed and remembered every day. Love ya, Mitchell and Amy

We will always remember all the great times we spent together at your homes and ours and from the New Hampshire train trip to the vacations in the Florida Keys. Our dear friends David and Norma are in our thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace David.

Rest in peace David . You were a great host during our visits to Florida . You were a good and caring husband to Nornie throughout you 25 years of marriage. You will be greatly missed

Rest in Peace David. You are in a better place now and pain free. I will miss our early morning chats when you and Norma came home for visits. And all the "discussions" Joe & you had over the Patriots. I know you and Emma Doodles are watching over Norma now.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Dave was a great neighbor, always so helpful. We will always remember, but also He is in a better place and out of pain. I am sure He is sharing a good drink with all his passed family and friends, and waiting patiently for Norma to be with him again

The world is a lesser place with David's passing. He was a good friend for many years and always had a smile. God speed David and now you are in a better place. I will miss him and our Football chat's.

I have only the fondest memories of David. Always such a wonderful host and so pleasant to be with. I will miss him and have no doubts he is now in a better place.

Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed by so many. We'll watch over Norma for you, Love, Bev & Jeff Cisco
