David Sawyer, 67, of Port Charlotte, Florida, formerly of Maryland, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022 in Port Charlotte, FL.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 11, 1955, to the late Ernest and Betty Lou Sawyer, David, a retired General Motors Company worker, relocated to Port Charlotte with his wife Sandy, to enjoy the Sunshine and retirement activities of Southwest Florida.
Survived by his beloved wife and companion of 20 years, Sandy; his daughter Kelli Neary and her Husband Nick Neary; two step-children, Michele and her Husband Glen Evans, and James and his wife Christine Shimanek; 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; 3 brothers, 3 sisters, his Aunt, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Memorial services celebrating David’s life will be held in both Maryland and Port Charlotte at a later date. On behalf of the Sawyer family, please return to this tribute page for updated information regarding day, date, time and location of services for David.

Having David as my best friend for 49 years has truly been an adventure. He was definitely a one-of-a-kind individual. When he named his Astro van "Twisted Mister" that pretty much summed him up. Nonetheless, I loved him and always will. Now it looks like I will miss him forever, however long that may be for me. R.I.P. my buddy. P.S. Sandy and Kelli please don't let your tears make the swimming pool overflow. He wouldn't want that.
