DAVID W. PENNINGTON, 83, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Friday, February 10, 2017 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte.
He was born August 23, 1933 in West Logan, West Virginia to the late Harry H. and Ruby J. (Parsons) Pennington. David was a retired school teacher who taught in Maryland at John Hanson Middle School and Eugene Borroughs Middle School. He moved to Port Charlotte in 1984 with his wife Barbara from Prince George’s County, Maryland. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Member of the First United Methodist Church of Punta Gorda and Oxon Hill Lodge #231 AF & AM of Temple Hills, MD.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 44 years, Barbara Mae Pennington of Port Charlotte; 4 daughters, Pamela Brown of McDonough, GA, Shari O’Bryhim of Fairfax Station, VA, Michele Pennington of Niceville, FL and Sharon Stone of Fairfax Station, VA; one sister, Mary Vaughn of Belfrey, KY; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Charlotte County. Interment with military honors by the U.S. Navy will be later this year at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA
