Denise Ann Funk, 63, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away Friday, October 14, 2016, at home.

Denise was born on December 3, 1952, the eldest daughter of nine children to Joseph F. and Elizabeth Marie Sheen, Jr. Denise and her beloved husband, James G. Funk, raised two children together before they moved from their longtime home of Fox Lake, Illinois, to Punta Gorda in 1992, and following hurricane Charlie, to Port Charlotte. Denise worked as an accountant, a clerk; she did so many things, and loyally served American Legion Post 103 in Punta Gorda as their Post’s Auxiliary President and Chaplain.

She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, James, and daughter, Nicole “Nikki” Czechowski of Athens, GA; son, Tad Funk; a grandson, James Funk of Woodbridge, IL; her mother, Elizabeth Marie Sheen of Ft. Myers, FL; and seven brothers and sisters, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends. Denise was preceded in death by her father, and a brother.

Visitation and a Funeral Prayer Service will be held Friday, Oct. 21, 2016 from 10 a.m. until start of service at 11:00 AM at Roberson Funeral Home Chapel, 2151 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte. Interment will follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, Punta Gorda, FL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Denise’s name are suggested to a charity of choice.
