Dennis Gregory Brown, age 83, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
Born on September 23, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Harry and Verona (née Wood) Brown, Dennis following high school entered military service with the U.S. Navy for 2 years from 1962 – 1964. Returning to civilian life, he continued his education and earned an Associates Degree from college. He then went on to work 38 years for General Motors Corp., 29 years as a facility manager for GM and 9 years with their Delphi subdivision.
In his younger years Dennis was an avid golfer. After he retired, he and his wife Beth L. (née Andrews) Brown moved from their home in Oxford, Michigan north of Detroit, to Punta Gorda, Florida at the end of 2019. In retirement, Dennis loved to read, and enjoyed spending his time with family and watching the HGTV fixer up shows. He was a lifetime member of the Deep Creek Elks Lodge, and member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Charlotte, Florida.
He is survived by his beloved wife Beth L. Brown, Jasper, their Maltese, who was his emotional support dog and loving companion; a brother, Tom (wife Beth) Brown of Venice, FL, and sister-in-law Kyle (husband John) Kraft of Bonita Springs, FL; children, Jeff (wife Karen) Brown, Hope DeLargy, and stepdaughter, Veronica (husband Jason) Leung; grandchildren, Chayse,Reece, Miles and Jesiah Brown, and CJ DeLargy (Maddie); and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Harry and Verona, he was preceded in death by siblings Sherle (husband Bill) Conn, Harry (wife Betty) Brown, Patty (husband Dave) Carey, and Jack (wife Judy) Brown.
A Memorial service celebrating Dennis’s life will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2565 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, Florida 33952, August 29, 2024 at 4:00 PM
