Donald Leroy Wyckoff, 76, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024, in Sarasota, Florida. He was the fifth child born to George and Florence Wyckoff and was born in Hopewell, New Jersey on May 19, 1947.
His early years were spent living on a farm in Hopewell, New Jersey before the family moved to Lawrenceville, New Jersey where he attended school, played minor league baseball, and began working in construction with his father and brothers. Don met his soulmate and best friend, Mary, through a mutual friend and the two married in 1965. Don began an apprenticeship in the printing industry as a journeyman pressman that eventually relocated the family to Maryland in 1970. Through hard work and dedication to his craft, he received several industry awards and was promoted to plant supervisor for a large, privately owned printshop in the Washington, DC area. After decades in the industry, he retired in 2004 and moved to Punta Gorda, Florida with his wife, Mary. After moving to Florida, Don began working for a local lumber company. After nearly two decades working as a carpenter, Don retired from Builders First Choice in 2023.
Don will always be remembered for his dedication to family, sense of humor, and enjoyment of golf and NASCAR. His greatest joy in life was family and spent most weekends with them in the pool, taking day trips or tinkering around their homes. He always had a smile on his face and enjoyed sharing humorous words of wisdom, leaving an unforgettable impression on everyone who knew him.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, George H. and Florence C. Wyckoff (Seals); brothers and sisters, Charles R. Wyckoff and wife, Elizabeth “Betty” A. (Horonzy); Margaret R. Cahill and husband, Thomas A.; Joseph H. Wyckoff and wife, Myrtle A. (Fisher) and George L. Wyckoff.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary L. Wyckoff (Scribner), with whom he shared fifty-eight years of marriage; three children, Linda M. Flynn (Wyckoff), Donald G. Wyckoff and Barbara I. Stachnik (Wyckoff); four grandchildren, Kyle J. Flynn, Patrick D. Flynn, Lauren M. Flynn and Hayden O. Stachnik; four great-grandchildren, Kyle J. Flynn, Jr., Brennen K. Flynn, Maci M. Flynn and Ella L. Flynn; brother-in-law George R. Scribner and wife, Mary Lou (Whitehouse); sister-in-law Sandra Wyckoff (Rutherford); many nieces and nephews and family dog, Emma.
