Donald E. (Don) Poole, 81, of Port Charlotte, Florida, died Monday afternoon, July 28, 2008 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte.
Born Donald Everett Poole on June 3, 1927 in Woodbury, New Jersey, Don, a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army and retired accountant with over 40 years experience for Mobil Oil Company, moved to Port Charlotte from his native Woodbury in 2000, though he and his wife Margaret, whom he married in 1958, had vacationed in the Port Charlotte area over many years prior to their move to Port Charlotte. He worked part time for Suncoast Media’s Charlotte Sun and Weekly Herald Newspaper of Charlotte County, and was a member of and Past Master of the Swedesboro F&AM Masonic Lodge, New Jersey, now the Paulsboro-Swedesboro Lodge; and regularly attended Port Charlotte United Methodist Church in Port Charlotte.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Margaret D. (nee-Leivesley) Poole, his pet dog Willi, a G.S.M.D., and many friends. He was preceded in death by his only son, William L. (Billy) Poole, on September 16, 2001.
