Doris, the youngest of two daughters’ born to the late Francis “Frank” and Estelle (née Williams) Griffith, was born on Sunday, December 28, 1924, in Englewood, New Jersey. Following graduation from High School, Doris like many young women at the onset of World War II, worked to contribute to the war effort in a factory in Edgewater, New Jersey, making aluminum parts for airplanes. During this period of time, Doris met and married her beloved husband, William John Deubel, with whom she had two children, a daughter, Robin Renee Deubel, and a son, Glenn Stewart Deubel. After the death of her husband she went to work as a telephone operator in Englewood, New Jersey. She later moved to Jackson Hole Wyoming and Phoenix Arizona. She eventually moved back to New Jersey where she lived with her daughter and her family. There she worked as a school bus driver until she was 90 years young! In July of 2022 she moved with her daughter and her husband to live in Lake Suzy, Florida at The Preserve.
She is survived by her children, daughter Robin Dym, and son Glenn Deubel; four grandchildren, Mark, Matthew, Ryan, and Trei; and two great grandchildren, Gianna, and Matthew. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William in 1961, her older sister, Vivian Lucille Briscione in 2002, and her brother-in-law, Gabriel Briscione in 2007.
A Memorial service celebrating Doris’ life will be held 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Roberson Funeral Homes Port Charlotte Chapel located at 2151 Tamiami Trail. Rev. Dr. R. Brian Stolarczyk of Lutheran Church of the Cross in Port Charlotte, will officiate. A private committal will be held in New Jersey at a later date.
