DOROTHY C. “Dottie” Bostwick, 79, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed
away peacefully Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte. Dottie was born March 24, 1929 in New York City, New York and married her husband William Bostwick June 21, 1947 in Bronx, NY. They moved to Port Charlotte in 1971 from Massapequa Park, NY. Bill and Dottie were owners and operators of Charco Office Supply formerly in Port
Charlotte and Punta Gorda.
Dottie was very active in her community; she was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte, past member of Charlotte Chamber of
Commerce Board of Directors, past member of the Advisory Board of Port Charlotte Bank, Charter member of the Char-VO-Tech Advisory Board and served six years as
Chairperson, former member of the Board of Trustees of the Port Charlotte Cultural
Center, past Chairperson Florida Board of Education Regional Council, past President
Of Pilot International, member of Charlettes of Elks Lodge No.2153 of Port Charlotte.
Dottie was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother and will
be missed but not forgotten.
Survived by her loving family, two daughters, Joy(Steven) Uhrie of E. Patchogue, New York and Dorri (Louis) Linde of Gainesville, FL; three sons, William(Susan) Bostwick of Aurora, CO, Steven (Carol) Bostwick of Punta Gorda and James(Shelia) Bostwick of Winter Springs, FL; two sisters, Viola Tanner and Eleanor Roth both of New
York; Fifteen Grandchildren, William(Rachel), Kerrin and Christopher, Steven, Michael(Sondra),Kerri (James), Lynnae(Steven),Lorri (Brent),Luanne, Louis(Marie) Steven,Christy, Andrea(Jeremy), James and Jonathan; eight great grandchildren, Emma, Billy, Meghan, Steven, Dax, Kaitlin,Brian, Steven, Caleb, Tyler, Lila, and Sadie.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 23, 2009 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Catholic Wake Service at 7:00 PM at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday,
Feb. 24, 2009 at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. Burial will
Follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.

Our love and prayers to family and friends in the loss of a beautiful lady who not only gave so much to her community, but whose family were the pride and joy of her life. Your loss of today becomes tomorrow's hope in knowing this is not the end of life, but a new beginning, as her entry into the gates of heaven provide a new blessing. We both remember Dottie with great fondness. She was the foundation for all of the businesses in Punta Gorda for years and she cheerfully kept our offices running. I remember running out of ledger papar (boy, does that date me) and calling up in a panic. She had it run out to us in just a few minutes. She was a grand lady and it was a sad day when Charco closed up shop. We know she will be missed by her family and friends but has gone on to a better place.
