Dorothy White was born in Wilmot, Arkansas on Wednesday, September 16, Her parents Leicester Williams and Artie Lee Williams named their only daughter Dorothy Mae Williams. Dorothy loved being spoiled by her father. Having two older brothers, Willie and Joe as well as one younger brother, Eddie, brought opportunities to Dorothy. Her older brother, Willie, decided to move to California. After getting settled in California, he sent for his baby sister. Dorothy settled in California for several years conceiving two daughters, Marietta and Yolanda. After California, she moved to New York City to make a better life for herself and her girls. She decided to pursue a career in Nursing. Dorothy received her LPN in 1971 from The University of The State of New York Education Department. Dorothy received her RN from Hostess College in the Bronx, New York in 1976. Dorothy was a member of the Nursing Association for many years. She served as a Nursing Supervisor in her appointed positions. Dorothy met her husband of thirty-five years, Willie R. White, while working in a nursing home. Willie and Dorothy decided to leave New York and make Port Charlotte, Florida their new home.
Dorothy continued her career in Nursing for another 20 years! Dorothy and Willie travelled and lived their lives enjoying their family and friends. Dorothy enjoyed Nursing and caring for her patients until her retirement fifteen years ago. If you knew Dorothy, you would definitely say she was smart, loving, strong, and so funny. Dorothy was a very giving person. She loved to give gifts to her family, especially clothes! Dorothy will sorrowfully be missed. Our family can definitely say a piece of our heart lives in heaven. Dorothy loved people and she loved her kids. She would end every conversation with them by saying “I Love you, be good and take care of each other” and that we will. We love you and will see you at the gate!
