Earl W. Moore, III, affectionately known as “Duke,” passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, at the age of 54. Born on November 2, 1971, in Woodbury, New Jersey, Earl later made his home in North Port, Florida.

Duke carried his sense of duty, strength, and resilience throughout his life, and his service to his country was a source of pride for both him and those who loved him. He proudly served in the United States Army for over 20 years, retiring as a Staff Sergeant after a distinguished career as a Military Police Officer. Throughout his service, he completed overseas deployments in Bosnia and Afghanistan, demonstrating unwavering courage, leadership, and commitment to mission and fellow Soldiers. His service was marked by professionalism and excellence, earning him numerous commendations, including the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), and multiple Army Commendation Medals, reflecting both his dedication and the lasting impact he had on those he served alongside. He was a respected NCO who led with integrity, strength, and a deep sense of responsibility, qualities that defined both his military service and his life beyond the uniform.

He was known for having a heart of gold and a way of telling it like it is—honest, direct, and always genuine. Those who knew him appreciated his straightforward nature and the loyalty and care that stood behind his words.

In his downtime, Duke enjoyed fishing and cheering on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, finding joy in the moments that brought him both excitement and peace.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl W. Moore Jr.; his brother, Dustin Moore; and his sister, Regina Sori. He leaves behind cherished loved ones who will continue to honor his memory, including his daughter, Amaya Moore; his mother, Sharon Ambrose; his sister, Atira Moore and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Duke’s love for his family ran deep, and his presence in their lives will never be forgotten.

Duke will be remembered for his strength, his unwavering spirit, and the deep love he held for those closest to him. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the lessons he imparted, and the many lives he touched.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 10:30 AM. Family and friends are asked to arrive at the cemetery by 10:00 AM.
