Eleanor Ann Lopes, 85, of Punta Gorda, Florida, died Sunday, August 27, 2017, at her family residence.
Eleanor was born September 2, 1931, in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Filomena and Frank Vecchione. A resident of Charlotte County since 1989, she and her husband Joseph B. Lopes, moved to the Charlotte area from Fords, New Jersey, and were members of San Antonio Catholic Church in Port Charlotte’s Deep Creek subdivision.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Joseph B. Lopes, Sr., sons, Robert (Katherine) Lopes of Branchburg, NJ, Jonathan (Donna) Lopes of Moorestown, NJ, and Joseph (Denise) Lopes Jr. of Wilmington, DE; eight grandchildren, and one great grandson; a sister, Yolanda Clarizio; brothers, Victor Vecchione and Frank Vecchione Jr., and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her sisters Mary and Ann, and brothers, Vincent and William.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at San Antonio Catholic Church, 24445 Rampart Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL. Committal will follow at San Antonio Catholic Church’s Cremorial Garden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Eleanor’s name are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4075 S. Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
