Elise was born November 6, 1908 in Anse D’Hainault, Haiti. She migrated to Brooklyn, New York in 1978, and later relocated to Port Charlotte in 1998. She was a market merchant in her native country, and was known as the neighborhood caretaker who took in
underprivileged children and orphans and raised them as her own. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who had a love for hats, jewelry, flowers, and sweets.
Elise is survived by daughters Antoinette Aubourg of Port Charlotte, FL; Claire Cazal of Lehigh Acres, FL; Bertha Jean of Anse D’Hainault, Haiti; Josephine-Solange Aguy of Lancaster, PA; Paulette Labarriere-Jean of Lancaster, PA; adoptive son Joseph Picard of Montreal, Canada; 32 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and numerous family members and friends. She will be deeply remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her.
