Elizabeth Schleicher
July 16, 1930 - February 22, 2010

Elizabeth (Betty) D. Schleicher, 79, of Arcadia, Florida, formerly of East Hartford, Connecticut, passed away Monday, February 22, 2010, at her Arcadia residence.

Betty, a winter resident since 1985, was born to the late Peter S. and Elizabeth (nee – Frickelton) Duncan on July 16, 1930 in Hartford, Connecticut where she resided until taking up permanent residence in Arcadia in 1997. Betty worked for Pratt & Whitney for 30 years until retiring, and was an avid dancer.

She is survived by her beloved sister, Grace Freeman of Newbury, MA; niece, Elizabeth (Betsy) Laurent of Keene, NH; and friend and companion, John Almendinger, of Arcadia, FL. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a brother, Alexander (Alex) Duncan, a sister, Agnes Sonner, and her beloved husband Frederick C. Schleicher.

We learned today of her aspirations to be a ballerina and understand now how she went through life with such grace. Bob and I are both former Live Oak residents and I was one of Betty's line dance students. = What a precious lady. Heart of gold. She gave so much of her time .and love to all us. I have kept contact with her up until about a week ago. She spoke to me about her condition , She dealt with her health problems with such strength and dignity, courage.. She was the best line dance instructor I have ever met . Our line dance group was a close nit group and she made it that way. She cared for everybody..
