ELSIE “PENNY” F. PENNER of Port Charlotte died Sunday, October 11, 2009 at Consulate Health Care in Port Charlotte.

She was born in Burrton, Kansas and moved to Port Charlotte in 1973 from
Wichita, Kansas. Miss Penner was a retired financial manager for the U.S. Department
of Defense. She was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Second Lieutenant in the
U.S. Marine Corps. She was a member of the American Association of University
Women, American Business Women Association, former member of the Charlotte
County League of Women Voters, Z.O.N.T.A. of Charlotte County and a former
Volunteer for the Gulf Coast Girl Scout Council.

She is survived by a sister, Bertha Northern of Kansas City, Kansas and
a niece, Jan Northern of Flagstaff, AZ. She was preceded in death by a sister,
Hilda Sabin.
