Eric A. Munsell, 78, a resident of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Tidewell Hospice House in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Born on October 24, 1947, in Youngstown, Ohio, Eric joined the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam war. Following his return to civilian life, he went to work for General Motors, working for GM for 25 years before retiring. Following his retirement, he then went to work for the Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff within their corrections department, until again retiring and relocating from his native Ohio with his wife Cynthia to Southwest Florida.

Preceded in death by his beloved mother, Dorothea C. Munsell, and sister, Claudia Munsell, he leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 40 years, Cynthia E. (formerly Carelly) Munsell of Punta Gorda, FL, a son, Scott Munsell of Denver, CO, a stepdaughter, Sheri Ricciardi of OH and a stepson, James D. Carelly of FL, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, a nephew, a niece and a great niece.

A committal service with Military Honors by the U.S. Air Force will be held 1:30 PM Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida.
