Estel H Payne, aged 93, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at home with his family at his side.
He was born in Wise County, Virginia to the late Lonnie Payne and Nelia (Winebarger) Payne. He was #5 of 9 children. After his service in the Air Force and marriage to the late E. Lucille (Bledsoe) Payne, they moved with their infant daughter to Ohio. They were blessed with 3 more children. He worked as a truck driver, carpenter, mill worker, and Ford Motor Company factory but his real calling was into God’s ministry and family. As founder, builder, and pastor of Trinity Temple in Milan, Ohio, his ministry grew and still stands. The cornerstones on the church states, “the Church that love built 1977 “and “To God be the Glory” Even after moving to Florida, his impact on the lives of others always focused on Christ. He diligently shared and witnessed those he met with his sharp mind and wit.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Etta Kelly of Port Charlotte and Linda Chaffin of Huron, Ohio; 2 surviving siblings, Leonard Payne of Berlin Heights, OH and Eutha Carty (92) Berlin Heights, OH; his grandchildren, Angela Wallace of Independence, Va; Sarah ( Frank) Cutrona of Port Charlotte, Fl, Christy (Matt) Harris of DelBarton, WV, Michelle(Brian) Morrow of Wakeman, Oh and Wendy Chaffin of Berlin Heights, Ohio; his great grandchildren, Destiny (Tyler)Green of Punta Gorda, Fl, Jordan Saunders of S Daytona, Fl, Brooke VanBrunt(Sean) of Sandy, Utah, Owen Harris of DelBarton, WV, Brandon Morrow of Oberlin, Oh, Madeline Morrow of Wakeman, Oh, Sierra, Sienna & Levi Podraski of Berlin Heights, Oh and his great-great grandchildren, Harlow Thompson, Hendrix Rozar, Helina Rozar, Halen Rozar, & Luna Green All of Punta Gorda, Fl, Olivia VanBrunt of Sandy Utah, Michael John Morrow of Wakeman, Oh and many, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his late wife of 70 years, E Lucille (Bledsoe) Payne and his 2 children, Curtis E Payne, Huron, Oh and Brenda S ( Frankie) Dardi, Sutton, WV and siblings, Lotress Payne – Sandy Ridge, Virginia, Laymon Payne- N Fairfield, OPearl Groesch – Huron, Oh Muriel Register- Loris, SC, Quinton Payne – Norwalk, OJames Buddy Payne – Apopka, Fl. Estel Payne was very respected and loved and will be missed by all who loved and knew him. He left a legacy to be proud of.
A visitation will be held 10:00AM-11:00AM, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00AM, Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Officiants will be Rev Ray Richardson of Lexington, Ohio & Pastor Phil Noel of Father’s House Fellowship in North Port, Fl. Interment with Military Honors by the U.S Air Force will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte, FL.
