Eugene Onofrio Stanziale, 90, of Port Charlotte, Florida, died Thursday, April 30, 2026, at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte.
Eugene, known to all as “Gene,” was born in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Thomas and Jean (Casalie) Stanziale. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Santa L. Stanziale, who passed away in 2022. Gene and Santa lived in Staten Island, New York, for many years before moving to Florida in 2015. During their time in Staten Island, Gene and Santa were known for their warm hospitality and love of entertaining. They cherished time spent with family and friends, whether hosting Sunday dinners, enjoying weekends at Breezy Point, or celebrating their annual New Year’s Eve gatherings—always with delicious food and plenty of laughter.
Gene was a retired butcher shop manager and a proud U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Anthony Stanziale and Henry Stanziale. He is survived by his loving family, including his sons, Thomas Stanziale of Port Charlotte, FL, and Joseph (Barbara) Stanziale of North Port, FL; his brothers, Thomas Stanziale and Johnny Stanziale, along with their families; his sisters-in-law, Carol Stanziale and Jean Stanziale; and his beloved sister-in-law, Janet Stanziale, who preceded him in death; four granddaughters, Christina, Jessica, Jeanna, and Heather; three grandsons, Joseph, Vincent, and Nicholas; a great-granddaughter, Debra; and a great-grandson, Logan.
Graveside services and entombment will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM, May 5, 2026, at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 1380 Forrest Nelson Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL 33952. Deacon Thomas Caliguire of San Pedro Catholic Church of North Port, FL will officiate.
