It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Florence Ann (Toro) Halas, age 62, of North Port, Florida, who passed away on April 14, 2026.
Florence was born in Bay Shore, New York. She built a life centered around love, kindness, and hard work. Florence was the former owner of Burnt Store Cafe and Stuff A Belly Diner, where she created a welcoming place where people felt cared for and at home. She had a true gift for helping others and always put everyone before herself. Her warmth, generosity, and loving spirit touched so many lives.
Florence was most proud of her family. She was a loving and devoted mother to her daughter, Alexis Halas, her sons, Michael Halas and Joey (Melissa) Lucas; and a cherished stepmother to James Halas and Christopher Halas; and a proud and adoring grandmother to Scarlett Ann, Ryan, Jayden, and Alex. She is also survived by her siblings, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will forever cherish her memory. Florence was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Miltiadis Halas, and her parents, Theresa and Joseph Toro.
Memorial services will be held Friday 11:00 AM, May 8, 2026, at the Freedom Bible Church, 5550 S. Sumter Blvd., North Port, Florida 34287, followed by a gathering with food at the hall. Private inurnment will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed in Florence’s memory to Freedom Bible Church.
