Frances L. Johnson, age 90, of Port Charlotte, Florida, formerly of Beaufort, South Carolina, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017, at her family residence in Port Charlotte.
Frances was born February 11, 1927 in Beaufort, North Carolina. Frances married Albert E. Johnson on February 8, 1947. They moved around the country while he served 20 years in the United States Marine Corp. They retired to Beaufort, SC, and Frances, following the death of Albert in 1981, relocated to Texas, then in 2007, to Port Charlotte.
She is survived by a very dear friend, Paul Abollia, her sons, James (Debbie) Johnson, Michael (Emily) Johnson, Patrick (Kelly Gibson) Johnson, and Ronald Edward Johnson; her daughters Alice (Thomas) Minich, Joyce Mahtesian, and Karen Johnson; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, and a wonderful friend and caregiver, Susan Hemmah. In addition to her husband Albert, Frances was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Kay Struhar, and great-granddaughter, Alexandria Struhar.
A Committal service scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, September 15th, 2017, has been rescheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, November 10th, 2017, at the Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested in Frances’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4075 S. Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte, FL 33952, or to Tidewell Hospice, Philanthropy Department, at 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238.
