Francis “Frank” A. Grieser, 75, peacefully passed in his sleep Saturday, April 20, 2024, at his residence in North Port, Florida.
He was born December 19, 1948, in Peoria, Illinois and moved to North Port in 2012.
Frank was a decorated combat Marine, Semper Fi. He served 2 tours in Chulia, Vietnam, between November 1967 and November 1971. Upon his return from serving his country, he continued working for Caterpillar Tractor Company for a total of 45 years until his retirement in 2012. Frank’s passion for riding was his Harley Davidson. It was evident in his meticulous maintenance and cleaning of his bike. Frank was happiest and most relaxed when he and Roma were riding their bike together whether close to home or across the country. Frank was a lifetime member of ABATE, the American Legion, VFW and Amvets.
Frank loved to scuba dive with his brother, Greg. They dove in the waters off the Florida Keys, and the inland lakes of the Midwest. They went to the Bahamas and dove with sharks as well as diving some of the shipwrecks in the Great Lakes.
Frank is survived by his life partner Roma Miller; three children, Cheryl Morgan-Kerr, Mark Grieser and Lisa Maubach; 5 siblings, Joseph Grieser, Jr., Janet Sue Nelson, Charles Grieser, Robert Grieser and Gregory Grieser; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A celebration of Franks’ life will be held at the American Legion, Post 254, North Port, Fl., on Sunday, June 23, 2024, the time to be announced.
Frank will be interred at Lakes Side Cemetery, in Pekin, IL at 1:00PM, Friday, May 10, 2024. Family and friends are invited to attend. A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Post 254 in North Port, Florida on June 23, 2024. The time will be announced soon.
