Frederick Ziegler Jr., 66, of Port Charlotte passed away on July 20, 2023.

He was born on June 4, 1957 to Marcia and Frederick Ziegler in Norwalk, Connecticut.  Fred, a beloved Husband, Brother, Father, and Grandfather is survived by his wife, Pam; sons Marcus (wife Susan), David, Joshua (wife Shelby), and Jared (wife Jessa); daughter Amber (husband Danny); grandchildren Nicholas, Austin, Emma, Brayden, Mackenzie, Frances, Olivia, Kane, Mason, and William.

After graduating from high school, Fred joined the Navy to serve his country. After nearly 9 years of service in the Navy, he transferred to the Coast Guard for the remainder of his career. He retired after 23 years of military service at the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. For the last 21+ years, he has worked for Wärtsilä/Defense Maritime Solutions, traveling the globe to diagnose and repair electrical & propulsion systems on marine vessels.

Fred was a truly great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family that loves him dearly, as well as his friends and coworkers. His passing leaves an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. Tomorrow is never promised, but Death is not Goodbye.

Visitation will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 am, with chapel funeral service from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Roberson Funeral Home, 2151 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33948.  Interment will follow with Navy honors at 2:30 pm on Monday August 7, 2023 at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.
