Gaylen C. May, Jr., 61, of North Port, FL passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at HCA Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL.

It is with heavy hearts that we celebrate the life of Gaylen C. May Jr., a devoted husband, loving father of three, and proud grandfather of five. Gaylen’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, creating cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Gaylen knows he had a heart as big as the sky—overflowing with kindness, love, and generosity. His patience was unmatched, a rare and beautiful gift that defined him as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He truly cared for others, always willing to lend a helping hand or share a warm smile, leaving a lasting impact on everyone around him.

Though he may no longer walk beside us, his spirit will forever remain in the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the memories we hold dear. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Survivors include his loving wife, Fanny May; 2 daughters, Denisse Hempel and Naomy Fray-Regato; his son, Ronny Fray-Regato; his sister, Laura May and 5 grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel.

I will never forget you Uncle Gaylen...Memories of you live on.

I have not seen my Uncle Gaylen in many years but have been remembering more and more frequently what he brought to my early childhood in Punta Gorda. How he has been described here by those closest to him is what I remember, and will continue to remember, of him. He was never a person of many words, like his father, but he demonstrated his care for us in the time he invested in our lives. I can imagine the heartbreak and loss that his wife and children are feeling today. Please know that you are not grieving alone and that I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I am praying that the Father will surround you with his comfort in the midst of your sorrow. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Dear family of Gaylen, We were so saddened to hear the news of Gaylen's passing. He was my uncle, although only four years older than I. We made many childhood memories...growing up together in Punta Gorda. My fondest memories are times spent together biking around the neighborhood, or trying to outdo each other in Bible verse competition at church. Our prayers are with the family. Knowing Christ as our Savior and His promises...give comfort that no human words can during times like these. (I Thess. 4:13-18)
