Genaro “Gene” V. Villareal, 80, of Sarasota, Florida, former resident of Port Charlotte, Florida died Thursday, October 8, 2020.
Gene was born July 19, 1940 in the Philippines to the late Eduardo and Mamerta Villareal.   He was a retired accountant for his wife’s medical practice and was an accountant for various companies before that.  He is a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Sarasota, St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church of Port Charlotte and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Punta Gorda.
He is survived by his loving family, three daughters, Irene Castelino of Weston, FL, Cathy Blanchard of Sarasota, FL and Suzette Barrett of Avon, IN; a son, Joseph Villareal of Sarasota, FL; a brother, Eduardo Villareal of Cebu, Philippines; 8 grandchildren, Jessica, Everett, Caitlin, Jacob, Kelsey, Lexie, Elena and Bella; and his girlfriend, Candelaria Carlton.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Dr. Norma Villareal, a sister, Linda Villareal and a brother, Romeo Villareal.
Visitation will be held Monday 5-8 PM, October 26, 2020 at Roberson Funeral Home Chapel, 2151 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33948. Mass of Catholic Burial will be held Tuesday 11:00 AM, October 27, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 211 W. Charlotte Ave., Punta Gorda, FL 33950. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte, FL.
