George was born June 25, 1922 in Marion, Indiana and moved to Port Charlotte in 1987 from Miami, Florida. He was a World War II veteran, US Army Air Corps. Cub was a Professor Emeritus in 1984 for the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. From 1950 to 1967, George taught Basic Marketing for the University of Miami and later became the Assistant to the Dean for the School of Business of Administration. He won a Teaching Fellowship for Harvard University College of Business Administration. He taught Written Analysis of Cases Course to Harvard MBA students.
Cub pioneered Cross Application Disciplines to Marketing, and he created the first course ever in Consumer Behavior and Consumer Behavior Research. In 1964, he was the CEO and Chairman of the University of Miami Credit Union.
George and his beloved wife, Lita, were avid boaters, spending many summers in the Bahamas and the Florida Keys with friends. Cub was active in many Yacht Clubs, serving as Commodore to Dinner Key Cruising Club in Coconut Grove, FL, Treasurer in the Coral Reef Yacht Club, Coconut Grove, FL, and Commodore of the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club. Among many of his boating and yachting interests, he was a member of the Curmudgeon Society in recent years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lita K. Cubberly; a sister, Lynn Almond of Michigan; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many loving friends.
