George Henry Newman, 81, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away Monday, January 9, 2023 at his home in Port Charlotte.

George was born to Robert and Bessie Newman on March 20, 1941 in Merrimack, NH. George was a graduate of Merrimack High School class of 1959. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1960 and served during the Cuban Crisis in 1962. After the military, he worked at a packaging company in Griffith Indiana as the supervisor of the company. George was a great man who loved life to the fullest and will forever be missed by those who loved and knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Charlotte; his daughter, Carol (Tim) Becker; stepdaughter, Suzanne (Doug) Willems; stepson, Douglas (Pam) Waters; 1 grandchild; 2 great grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 7 step-greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert A. Newman, mother, Bessie A. (Shattack) Newman, sisters, Gloria, Frances and brother, Robert.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 10:00AM, Monday, February 13, 2023 at Sarasota National Cemetery by the family.
