Gesner H. Gustave, 82, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013 at his home in Port Charlotte.

Gesner was born July 24, 1931 in Haiti and moved to Port Charlotte in 1992 from Brooklyn, New York. Gesner was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Gesner was a school teacher in Haiti for many years teaching Grammar. He and his wife were dedicated to their family and friends and will always be remembered by all who loved and knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Dieudonne; a son, Geraud Gustave of Port Charlotte; 2 daughters, Peggy Gustave of Orlando, FL and Laura Gustave of Dallas, GA; a sister, Lucine Dorsainvil of Haiti; 1 grandchild, Jaelin and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 6:00pM-8:00PM, Friday, September 20, 2013 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00AM, Saturday, September 21, 2013 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens Port Charlotte, FL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 21505 Augusta Ave. Port Charlotte, FL 33952.

Friends may visit on-line at www.robersonfh.com to sign the memorial book and extend condolences to the family. Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel.

My condolences to the Gustave family. May God bless you guys. I will always remember Mr. Gustave as a friendly, outgoing guy who can strike up a conversation with anyone. I remember him & my dad talking about the good old days in Haiti whenever they met. However, what I will treasure most is the love that he exhibited for his wife, children & his grandson.
