Maria was born January 25, 1942 in Lares, Puerto Rico and moved to Port Charlotte 10 years ago from Bordentown, New Jersey. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church for many years. She was a loving wife and mother and will be missed by all who loved and knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Ruben Sierra; a son, Ruben R. Sierra of Hamilton, NJ; 4 sisters, Sonia Haley of Alabama, Carmen Mosier of Easton, PA, Miriam Viscaya of North Carolina and Wanda Shaw of Paducah, KT; and 2 brothers, John Arvelo, Jr. of Punta Gorda, FL and Ralph Arvelo of Virginia.

My memory of Maria goes back 10 years when she and I took orientation to volunteer at TideWell Hospice and became good friends and also seen each other at Hospice and Dillards where I shopped. We lost contact over the years, as due to health problems, I was not able to volunteer at Hospice. She is was a great always stylished, attractive and giving Lady.
