Harry “Skip” West Danner, 83, Baltimore, MD and Port Charlotte, FL

Skip Danner passed away at home in Port Charlotte on March 9, 2016, after a long period of declining health. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Marie (Ruzek) Danner. Also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law David and Barbara, Mechanicville, NY; daughter and son-in-law Denise and Kevin Gann, Darlington, MD; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Donna, Abingdon, MD; son and partner, Douglas and Christopher Law, Chattanooga, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Darrin and Susan, Stewartstown, PA, along with eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by his infant son, Dennis.

Skip grew up in Brunswick, MD, graduating Brunswick High School in 1950. He served overseas in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict after which he settled in Baltimore where he met and married Marie. He joined Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone as a lineman and progressed into management. While working full time, he graduated from the University of Baltimore and George Washington University with a Masters Degree in Personnel Administration. He retired in 1988.

In retirement Skip and Marie split their time between summers in Baltimore and winters in Port Charlotte, where Skip was active in the Oak Forrest Condo Association and in many community social activities.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte on Friday, March 18, at 1:30 pm. Burial services will be held in Baltimore later this spring. Donations in Skip’s name can be made to the charity of your choice.
