LTC Harvey R. Elliott, U.S. Air Force, retired, 84 of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away peacefully at home on April 5, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born July 14, 1939, in Lynch Station, Virginia to late Lyle B. and Dora E. (Witt) Elliott. He moved to Port Charlotte in 1984 with his wife Donna from Tyndall AFB, Panama City, Florida. Harvey was a Vietnam War veteran serving twenty-two years in the U.S. Air Force as a navigator, pilot, and comptroller. As a pilot, Captain Harvey R. Elliott received The Distinguished Flying Cross for Extraordinary Achievement while participating in aerial flights and combat in 1970.
Harvey had a second career as financial adviser for twenty-six years. Gov. Jeb Bush appointed him to serve on the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Nominating Committee and he also served on the Charlotte County Charter Review Committee. He was active in local politics and was a Precinct Committeeman and member of Charlotte County Republican Executive Committee. He was a Christian who is now resting in peace with his Lord and Savior.
Survived by his loving family, wife Donna M. Elliott of Port Charlotte; two sisters, Clara Elliott, and Sylvia Schlemmer both of Lynchburg, VA; and many friends. He will be missed, so very much.
A visitation will be held Monday, April 15, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Roberson Funeral Home Chapel, 2151 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, Florida 33948. Graveside services with full military honors by a U.S. Air Force Honor Guard will be held Tuesday 11:00 AM, April 16, 2024, at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 1380 Forrest Nelson Blvd., Port Charlotte, Florida 33952.
