Mr. Herman Hirschberg, 95, of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009 in Jacksonville.
Born on May 19, 1913 in Germany, Herman, a retired professional photographer for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Hartford, Connecticut, lived in East Hartford until relocating to Port Charlotte in 1977 and more recently to Jacksonville in 2001. He was a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army, and a former faculty member of the Port Charlotte Cultural Center and Temple Shalom in Port Charlotte.
Herman is survived by his beloved daughter, Miriam Hirschberg and extended daughter, Lisa Gorospe, both of Jacksonville, FL; grandson, Harry Koenders (Debbie), great grandson, Tycho Nicholas Koenders and special friend Jackkee Dye. Herman was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Rebecca, a daughter, Elaine Koenders, and sister, Herta Vreeland. Herman’s motto was Das leben ist ein kamph-Seige and he won always providing impeccable wisdom and graciousness along the way.
