Hilda V. Hess, 90, of Punta Gorda, Florida died Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at her Punta Gorda residence in the comforting care of her family.
Hilda was born to the late Gilbert James and Louisa Mary Bryant on September 9, 1924 in Rochester, New York and moved to Punta Gorda from Pottstown, Pennsylvania in 1993. During World War II, Hilda supported the war effort working in the Naval Ship yards as a “Rosie” the riveter. She went on to work in Education for a University and public High School as a secretary and bookkeeper. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Survivors include her sons, William T. Genter, and Robert W. Hess, Jr.; daughters, Patricia Borromeo, Carol Wood, and Bonnie Leatigaga; twelve grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. In addition to her parents, Hilda was preceded in death on February 5, 2015 by her beloved husband of 48 plus years, Robert W. “Bob” Hess, Sr.
A Memorial service celebrating Hilda’s life will be held at Lighthouse Church in Lyons Station, Pennsylvania at a later date. Committal with her husband Bob will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, Pennsylvania.
