Ignatius F. Delekta III, lovingly known as Nick, 68, died unexpectedly on July 22, 2024, at his home in Port Charlotte, FL. Born to the late Ignatius F. Delekta, Jr. and Claire Bienvenue Delekta, Nick lived most of his life in Warren, RI.
Nick had a deep love for the ocean, finding peace and joy in its vastness and beauty. His passion for the open water extended to every aspect of his life – an excellent boater, fisherman, shell fisherman, cook (especially seafood); you would often find him with sand between his toes.
His generous spirit and compassionate nature were evident in his constant efforts to help others. Whether through his work as a plumber or simply out of love, Nick was always ready to lend a helping hand…and it always came with a big bright smile and lots of conversation. Described as both a teddy bear and a beach boy, Nick was a beloved friend to many.
Nick was a proud member of the Elks Club, German American Club, and Cup Defenders, and you would often find him at the White Elephant, his favorite spot in Manasota Key. He is survived by his two brothers, Eric Delekta (Pam) of Warren, RI, and Simon Delekta (Kelly), of Portsmouth, NH, nieces Stacy and Nicole Delekta, as well as countless friends who were touched by his kindness and generosity.
A celebration of life has been scheduled for Friday, August 30, 2024, at 4:00 PM, and will be held at the German American Club located at 27 Kelly Street, in Warren, RI. Nick will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Elks National Foundation or Save the Bay in Nick’s memory. Friends may visit online at www.robersonfh.com to extend condolences to the family. Arrangements by Roberson Funeral Home & Crematory Port Charlotte Chapel
