Imogene M. Sprenger, passed away on July 5, 2023, in Roanoke, Virginia. Born to Ruth and Albert Scamman in Phillips, Maine, on November 2, 1932, Imogene grew up dividing her time between Phillips in the summer and Portland, Maine during the school year. Imogene graduated from Dearing High School, Westbrook Junior College, and Gorham State Teacher’s College before beginning her first career as an elementary school teacher.
At 23, Imogene married Edgar Sprenger. They lived briefly in Maine, then moved to Massachusetts, where Imogene was a homemaker, raising three children: Deborah, John, and David. In 1979, the family moved to Florida, where Imogene embarked on a highly successful career as a realtor. She was particularly expert at helping couples find their first home and delighted in the personal relationships she developed with her customers and her fellow agents.
Imogene was an accomplished gardener, seamstress, and baker. An animal-lover, Imogene was devoted to her dogs.
Imogene was predeceased by her husband Edgar, her sister Gaynor, her son David, and her step-granddaughter Carly. She is survived by her son John and his wife Kelly, her daughter Deborah and her husband Michael, her grandchildren Madeleine and Edward, step-grandson Timothy, and her step-great-granddaughter, Kayla.
Private graveside service will be held at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte, FL. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in Imogene’s name would be a lovely way to honor her memory.
