IRENE R. BENNETT, 88, of Punta Gorda, Florida, died peacefully Friday evening, June 13, 2008 at Charlotte Regional Medical Center Hospital in Punta Gorda.

Born Irene Mildred Robinson on June 13, 1920 in Acton, Montana to the late Ralph E. and Orpha H. (nee-Olswold) Robinson, Irene, a loving sister, wife, mother and grandmother, left her native Montana for Shreveport, Louisiana before moving to Punta Gorda in 2001. Irene had a true love for gardening which she enjoyed very much, and was an ardent Baseball fan who loved going to Spring Training and season games when ever she could.

Irene is survived by her loving daughter, Marta Eagle and loving son-in-law, Ric Welle of Punta Gorda; a sister, Ella (husband-Jim) Edwards of Hobbs, New Mexico, two brothers, Jack (wife-Karen) Robinson of Billings, MT, and Ed (wife-Barbara) Robinson of Haywood, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister, and her beloved husband, John J. Bennett.
