She was born January 3, 1928 in Jamaica, West Indies to the late Benjamin and Amanda (Helson) Johnson. She immigrated to Bakersfield, California in the 1980’s and later moved to Florida in 1989. She was a retired Registered Nurse and a former employee of Fawcett Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital in Port Charlotte. Iris was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
She is survived by her loving family, adopted son, Cecil (Jean) Murray of Rotonda West, FL; a sister, Merle Kenton of Toronto, Canada; two brothers, Charles (Blossom) and David Johnson both of Toronto, Canada and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on July 19, 2018 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday 11:00 AM, July 20, 2018 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 21505 Augusta Ave., Port Charlotte, FL 33952. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte.
