Mr. Ivor Hubert Vernon, 89, a resident of Port Charlotte, Florida, formerly of Brooklyn, New York, died on Thursday, October 14, 2010, in Port Charlotte.
Ivor was born April 12, 1921, in Jamaica, West Indies, and emigrated from his native Jamaica to England before coming to New York in 1970 where he worked as a Bakery Quality Control Inspector until retiring. He moved from Brooklyn with his wife Daphne, to Port Charlotte in 1986, and joined the Murdock Baptist Church in Port Charlotte. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Daphne Vernon; one daughter, Kathleen Price of Orlando, FL, two sons, Fabian Vernon of Brooklyn, NY, and Verley Vernon of Montreal, Canada; one step-daughter, Elaine Bartley of Queens, NY; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
