Committal with Military Honors by the US Air Force and burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens cemetery also in Port Charlotte.

JC was born September 1, 1932 in Blountstown, Florida. He was born to the late Joe and Pearl Spann. He was raised by his grandmother the late Lessy Roberts. JC gave his life to Christ at an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and began his Christian walk with the lord. He was a member of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church in Blountstown, Florida.
He attended and graduated from Blountstown High School and later enlisted in the US Air Force where he served for 20 years and retired as a Master Sergeant. Joined in marriage to Margaret Lockett Spann on December 10, 1955. In union one child were born: Dennis Spann. JC Spann and Margaret moved to Port Charlotte, Florida in 1971 after he retired from the US Air Force. After moving to Port Charlotte, Florida, JC Spann worked for the Charlotte County School system for several years before becoming employed with the Charlotte County Sheriff Office in 1981.
JC Spann was known as a hardworking individual. He dedicated 14 years to working at the Charlotte County Sheriff Office Detention Bureau until he retired as a Sergeant in 1995. After he retired, he was still an active member of the FOP Lodge.
JC Spann became a member of the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church where he served as the President of the Usher Board. He was also, a Life Member and President of the NAACP Branch #5093 for several years. He also was the President of the Air Force Sergeant Association, member of the Charlotte Co Veterans Council Executive Board, Charlotte Vo-Tech Advisory Board, Edison Community College Advisory Board and the American Legion Post #110.
JC leaves to cherish his precious memories: His wife, Margaret Lockett Spann; one son, Dennis (Diane) Spann. Cousins, Willie Lee Allen (John) of Merritt Island, Henry C Davis of Blountstown, Florida and Katrina Alexander of Jacksonville, Florida, A God daughter Vanessa Weathersby of Chicago, IL. A Special Family Friend Dorothy Gamble; and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. with funeral service at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Port Charlotte United Methodist church located at 21075 Quesada Ave. in Port Charlotte. Committal with Military Honors by the US Air Force and burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens cemetery also in Port Charlotte.
