Mr. James Lewis Angel, Sr., 86, of North Fort Myers, Florida formerly of Port Charlotte, Florida and Akron, Ohio, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Hope Hospice of Cape Coral, Florida.
James was born January 3, 1924 in Pruden, Tennessee, and raised in Harlan County, Kentucky. Upon graduation from Hall High School he enlisted into the United States Marine Corp., serving in the South Pacific, Guam, Okinawa, China and Korea. He served for a period of time in the M.A.D. Naval Air Station in Akron, Ohio where he received a disability discharge. He then started his career with the Department of Defense in the Procurement field, where he remained until his retirement in 1982. James and his wife Gloretta moved from Akron to Port Charlotte in 1983, and to North Fort Myers, Florida in 2004. Mr. Angel, a Master Mason, served as Master of his Masonic Lodge, Henry Perkins #611 in Akron in 1978 and was a member of the (Robert L. Cochran, Jr.) Disabled American Veterans Chapter 82 of Port Charlotte.
He is survived by four children, daughters Judy (Rob) Sebastin of Cape Coral, FL, Cheri (Ken) Wolfram of Loveland, OH, and Lynn (Tom Barden) Barnett of North Fort Myers, FL, and son Timothy Semelsberger of Akron, OH; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Teena Miller and Boots Manchester, both of Cape Coral, FL, a niece and 2 nephews. James was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years Gloretta I. Angel, a daughter Andrea Sue Angel, and son James L. Angel, Jr.
