James Anthony Bono, Jr., 79, of Punta Gorda, formerly of Long Island, NY, passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2015 at Tidewell Hospice House in Port Charlotte, FL.

James was born on Sept. 1, 1936 in New York City, New York to the late James Anthony and Rose Bono. A veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army, James, a retired Commercial & Residential Flooring Contractor, moved with his wife Frances from their longtime home of West Islip on Long Island, NY, to Punta Gorda where they spent many years wintering until becoming fulltime residents in early 1991.

He is survived by a daughter, Michelle R. (Husband Peter) Keller; two grandchildren, granddaughter Allie Keller, and grandson Joshua Keller; a sister-in-law, Elaine Bono; several nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Charles Bono, and his beloved wife of 50 years, Frances in March of 2014.

A Committal service with Military Honors by the U.S. Army and inurnment to follow will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 28, 2015 at Sarasota National Cemetery.
